Fiston Mwanza Mujila

Fiston Mwanza Mujila, born in 1981 in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, is a writer. He lives in Graz, writes poetry, prose and plays and teaches African literature at university. Fiston Mwanza Mujila publishes mainly in French; his debut novel “Tram 83” was awarded the International Literature Prize - House of World Cultures and the Peter Rosegger Literature Prize of the Province of Styria (2018). For his second novel “La danse du Vilain”, the author received the Prix Les Afriques in 2021. In 2024, he was awarded the Preis der Literaturhäuser and was shortlisted for the National Book Award.  In addition to his work as an author and performer (collaboration with jazz musicians), he is active as a mediator and publisher of African Dispora literature.
