Francesca Beard, born in 1968 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, lives in London. She is a Malaysian-British writer and performance poet who often explores identity and human experiences in her works. Representing British literature worldwide for the British Council, she has showcased her art in diverse places, such as a shopping mall in Bangkok and a prison in Colombia.
