Zehra Çirak
Zehra Çırak, born in Istanbul in 1960, has lived in Germany since 1963 and in Berlin since 1982. She is a poet and writer of short prose. From 1982 until 2014, she collaborated closely with visual artist Jürgen Walter, who passed away in 2014, on numerous exhibitions and publications. For over 20 years, Çırak has led literary writing workshops in schools and universities. She is the author of “Der Geruch von Glück“ (2011), a collection of stories, and “Die Kunst der Wissenschaft “ (2017), a bilingual work featuring poetic texts on sculptures by Jürgen Walter, published by Schiler & Mücke. Her literary achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize (1983) and the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize (2001).
