For the opening of the poesiefestival berlin, the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin will transform Potsdamer Platz into the largest open air stage for poetry in Europe. The international stars of poetry will be appearing at Weltklang – Night of Poetry. This year's sensation: the American performance artist Laurie Anderson will be presenting at Weltklang part of her new solo programme The End of the Moon, two days prior to the German premiere.
The magic of Weltklang – Night of Poetry lies precisely in the fact that the poems are read aloud - without spoken translation - in their original language. Specially for this evening an anthology of translations of the poems read at the event will appear as a limited edition.

Project direction: Michael Gaeb

Weltklang – Night of Poetry will be taking place for the 6th time, with the kind support of DaimlerChrysler Immobilien (DCI) GmbH.

With the kind support of the Embassy of the United States of America, the French Embassy, the Government Commissioner for Cultural and Media Affairs, the Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD, the Instituto Cervantes and Pro Helvetia.
