Lyrik im Park / Poetry in the Park

Mo, 28. Juni bis Do, 1. Juli 2004

Prior telephone booking necessary

Lyrik im Park is a series of open-air literary events, in cooperation with Berlin children’s and youth libraries, aimed at children from 5 to 11.

City parks, play areas and swimming pools change into the backdrop for readings, literary games and visual art workshops. At the heart of the events stand poems, word games, rhymes (from, among others, the edition lyrikline.org). In addition, crates of books stand ready for personal reading. On the 29th of June the VERSschmuggel pair Arne Rautenberg (Germany) and Meirion MacIntyre Huws (Wales) read to the children.

Which subjects, words, pictures, situations or sounds remind one of stories or could awaken interest in them? Which aesthetic signals from books excite or stimulate children? Into which word, picture or game worlds can these be transformed? Are collages, photos, poems, stories, songs, pantomimes, posters, puppets, sculptures, scenes, talkshows, plays, animations all suitable? However complex a literary text has become, similarly all the more extensive is its aesthetic offering.
