www.lyrikline.org is the platform for poetry on the internet, on which the poems are simultaneously availiable to listen to, and to read in both the original language and translation; a concert of voices and languages, performed by the authors themselves – to hear in living and working rooms of your choice.

Thanks to a grant from the Kulturstiftung des Bundes, and in cooperation with institutions in fifteen countries, the translation project Internationale Poesie auf lyrikline.org was able to get under way last year, advancing the international exchange of poets and poems. In the afternoons of the 25th and 26th of June 2004 the second evaluatory meeting of the international partners takes place.
The first results of this cooperation are already available. Texts and sounds from Serbia, Australia, Hungary, Belgium, Belarusia, Iran, the Netherlands and Switzerland have arrived and been put together. The further development of materials now lies with the partners in France, Slovenia, Italy, Turkey and Lithuania. Furthermore, work from Irish, Argentinian and Swedish poets will be added this year.

At the moment about 200 poets, each with 10 poems, are present in this voice archive of contemporary poetry. The number increases week be week. lyrikline.org was opened in November 1999 and today is awaiting its 700,000th visitor.
With the presentation of sound, text and varied translations, lyrikline.org opens the gateway to international poetry and advances poetic dialogue. Already today lyrikline.org is used by the organisers of international festivals as an information platform, from which they make their invitation decisions.

Lyrikline.org stands under the auspices of the German UNESCO Commission.
